MAYBE IT'S JUST ME

But Vanessa Hudgens is my style icon. She has such great taste in so many things - and she's got to be one of the most beautiful people that there ever was. Maybe that's just me. Emma Watson and she have to be two of my all time favorite people - I just think they're incredibly stylish and beautiful.

CURRENT PLAYLIST

I've been listening to music a lot lately, as I always do, and I've decided to come up with a blog topic called 'current playlist'. It's about - you guessed it - the music that I'm listening to currently. Go figure, right? So here is my current playlist, as of a few days ago:

Cold War - The Morning Benders
We R Who We R - Ke$ha
Trouble is a Friend - Lenka
Too Dramatic - Ra Ra Riot
I Want the World to Stop - Belle & Sebastian
Galaxies - Laura Veirs

BUSY BUSY WEEK

Seriously, this week is going to be probably the second busiest week of my year, right after exams week. I have a chorus concert tomorrow, and a shrink appointment on Friday - a half day on Wednesday, a paper and a test due on Thursday, and on Saturday I have my SAT, as well as prom. I have to get my dress on Friday. Busy busy busy - there's just no way around it, I'm telling you!

KILMENY, KILMENY WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

SUNDAY AFTERNOON

It's nearly four o'clock, and I've spent the majority of the day sifting through most of my belongings with my mother, deciding what needs to be tossed and whatnot. My room is getting there, but it's nowhere near being clean at the moment. I've just done a make up look that was inspired by a song we're singing in my chorus class called "Six Bells". It's really pretty and I wanted the solo at the beginning of the song, but unfortunately I was sick the day of auditions. Now a girl who's way better than me is singing the solo. It makes me a little sad, but there's not much I can do about it. Regardless, I shall be uploading a photo of the make up look very shortly (as in, as soon as my camera has finished loading).

IT'S 6:15 IN THE MORNING

It's six fifteen in the morning, and what am I doing? Reading through beauty blogs as I watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets. I've already had time to fish tail my hair, considering I've been awake since 4:30. I'm thinking I should probably just go back to bed until I've slept for eight hours total, at least. I think I will.

My room is getting closer and closer to being done, finally - one wall left to paint, my bed has already been moved - just have to find somewhere for the book case to go now.

SCARY MOVIES

I've always been kind of an easily frightened, squeamish sort of person. I never liked scary movies and to be honest I still don't. Or rather, I don't like things that will make me jump - sudden movements or loud noises, etc... So I thought I'd put together a list of "horror" movies that I don't mind watching - for those more faint of heart like me. Some people have told me that these don't count as "scary movies" - but others I know disagree. So here we go.

1. The Mummy
2. Sleepy Hollow
3. Sweeney Todd

SPRING BREAK

One more day of school before Spring Break officially begins. I have no idea if I can actually make it through another ENTIRE day of school, this is going to drive me mad. I'm quite sure that once I've hit fifth period, I'm going to be ready to go home. I wish I could at least skimp out on Algebra, or something like that. It's the last class of the day, AND my least favorite, AND spring break is so close I could touch it - I would go through all six classes to start with, without complaint, if I could just miss Algebra and go HOME!

It's 7:35 AM and I'm starving, so I'm going to hop off now and head for McDonalds with my mom.

THE TITANIC SUNK TODAY

April 14th, 1912. That would be the date that the Titanic hit the iceburg that sunk it. Lives were lost that day, and I'm posting this in remembrance of those lives.

I've had a bit of a fascination with the Titanic since I was little; I've never seen the movie (gasp! I know, what kind of person am I?), but when I was younger my godfather took my brother and I to a traveling exhibit that was set up in our city that was all about the Titanic. They gave you a ticket with the information of a person who was REALLY on the Titanic, and they even had a giant ice block that was supposedly the same temperature as the water would have been when the Titanic crashed. It was by far one of the coolest experiences of my life - I'm just sad that one of my best experiences had to be fueled by the misfortune of others.

DO YOU KNOW TILLIE KUPFERSCHMIDT?

I didn't, before today. I was on StumbleUpon and came across an article featured on PBS about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire - and if you know know about THAT, well, then, I'm slightly ashamed of you. I found the article interesting, and at the very end they had a picture of this young girl's gravestone.

She was seventeen years old. She died on March 25th, 1911.
There was no birthday listed. I wish there was.

I feel like I should do something important or useful or something, anything to commemorate this young woman's memory. I don't think that I'm able to do much, but I can do this:

In Memory of Tillie Kupferschmidt.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Focus on NOW.
NOW is something you control.
Because you control the now, THEN will always be okay.
Panicking only makes NOW harder. Get past NOW,
and THEN will come as it may, and it will always be okay.

APRIL FOOLS

I've never been much into the whole April-fools day joke sort of thing. As a matter of fact, I wasn't even aware that today was April first until I was told so; I've been out of school for almost two weeks now from illness, and I finally went to the doctor yesterday to figure out what was wrong. Apparently, it's viral, but her gave me some medicine so hopefully I'll be back on my feet in no time - I better be, because I need to be. I still have to make up that chemistry test, and apparently my English assignment is due today. However, as I'm not there today, I guess that means that I will be doing the whole thing this weekend, because I definitely haven't done it while I've been sick.

No, mostly, I've been sleeping. A lot. As in, I'm not used to sleeping so much, and now my sleep schedule is weird because I can sleep practically all day and all night. When I have been awake, I've been watching movies and browsing the internet; because let's face it, that doesn't take a lot of brain power, and right now, I don't really want to have to USE a lot of brain power. I just want to relax. It's sort of hard to do that, however, when everyone is pressuring you to get better - the pressure isn't helping, number one, and number two, if you want me to get back so that I CAN make up my work, I have to be better first. Please refer to number one.

Movies I've watched in the past few days:
Tangled, which is now out on DVD (congradulations Disney on your 50th animation)
Young Frankenstein, because I feel like it

I know that's only two movies, but honestly, that's all I can remember - I watched Tangled like seven times, and I'm watching Young Frankenstein right now, debatably, so that's really all I've got.

There was a failed attempt to dye my hair blonde last night. Just thought I'd throw that out there. I guess I should go get it done professionally, but as I still don't feel wonderful, it might not be the smartest idea I've ever had. At least, not currently.

PAINFULLY DULL

I'd have to say that so far, my weekend has been painfully boring. My dad did take me to Best Buy yesterday to get my edition of the Sims Medieval, which is fun don't get me wrong, but after like ten hours of playing it consecutively, it just starts to get old. Yeah. So what am I supposed to do? I'd really like to make my own website to roleplay on, because I know what I want and it's pretty specific, but then there's the hassle of advertising and getting people to join and STAY members. And then there's the fact that I've got like seven characters on another site, and it's just sheer madness - I wish my muse weren't so persnickety all the time.

I just finished watching The Tourist with my parents - I'm not going to say that it was the best movie that I've ever seen, primarily because it isn't really my style - but I love Johnny Depp, and Angelina Jolie too (I get compared to her a lot, actually, something to do with our faces looking similar), so I'm going to say that out of five stars, the movie got between a three-point-five and a four. It wasn't bad - The plot was interesting enough, and I'm not going to lie and say that I completely called the ending - I was guessing at it, but I wasn't surefire about it. Maybe it's just because it's not my style, maybe it's because I thought the character development was a little underdone, I don't know. It's not the best movie I've ever seen, but I enjoyed it. I feel so weird because I think that, as a writer, I tend to judge movies really harshly - I mean, I can't help it, but hey, at least I'm pretty straightforward about what I think, right?

I still really want to go see Sucker Punch, like seriously - but lucky for me, Monday is a protected teacher's work day here, so I have off. HA! Take that, establishment. I might actually get to go see it at some point this weekend after all.

STILL EFFING SICK

I'm a little pissed off about the fact that last night my illness reached a peak, so not ONLY did I miss another day of school that I can't afford to miss, but I'm not going to get to go see SuckerPunch today with the Little Mermaid and Cinderella. I was really looking forward to that! It made me think that my weekend was actually going to be sort of decent, which now I'm having trouble believing. More lackluster plans, if that. Hurrah.

SOME NEW PHOTOS

The photos were taken by me, as well as edited by me, and I am the model. Yes, I'm aware that such multi-tasking is somewhat aggregious, but I think they came out quite well, if I say so myself!

FELL IN LOVE WITH A HUGGIES COMMERCIAL

So, I can't believe this, but I kind of fell in love with a song from a Huggies commercial. Sad, isn't it? I like this one, and the remix of "Early Bird" by Shirley Temple in the Target commercial - but I can't find that one anywhere. Let me know if you do?

I BELIEVE IN PINK

I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BORN AN 80's KID

So I feel even more sick than I did earlier today. It sucks. But I was surfing the net, trying to keep down my dinner (didn't work, FYI, though that's also probably TMI), and I came across a video to a song that I hadn't heard since I was little.

Haha, David Bowie! The Labyrinth. That was like one of the biggest movies of my childhood, along with The Neverending Story, A Little Princess, The Secret Garden, and The Witches. I know, I know. I was born in the early nineties, but I'm telling you, I think I was raised as an 80's kid. My opinion of this only doubles when I consider the music my mom played all the time: Tears for Fears, The Mama's and the Papa's, The Beatles, and one song by Patsy Cline called 'Crazy'. I'm telling you right now, this is the reason that I have such weird taste in music.

What other seventeen year old adores Glenn Miller? And if you know one, be sure to tell me - then maybe I won't feel like I have my own separate species in this world! Because, let's be honest. When you like Glenn Miller, and you're the ONLY one in your school who does, it's not a mystery who's phone went off in class when everyone hears Moonlight Serenade playing as a ring tone!

MY DOG, WROLF

So. I've got a dog.
His name is Wrolf.
He's a very pretty boy.
Though he's not smart,
He's got lots of heart,
and he's my pride and joy.

Hurrah for that lovely, badly written little poem thing. Off the top of my head - fun, huh? Anyways, He's a doberman-rottweiler, and he really isn't the brightest star in the sky. He's huge, he's clumsy, and he doesn't realize that his tail is attached to his butt, so he has a tendency to knock anything over that's remotely at his level. And it hurts when it hits you. But, he goes totally slack if you rub his belly or his chest.

The reason I say this, now? Well, because he's laying on top of my hands as I type. It's rather difficult, but I know the keyboard well enough that I can do this. He's really heavy though. Mostly, this was a test to see if I could type under these circumstances.

TYPING LEVEL: BAD ASS.

TRUTH BE TOLD

I should probably be doing something more productive with my day. I'm sick, I've lost my voice. What have I done on my sick day off of school? Not my English homework. Not studying for the chemistry test I have tomorrow that I'm going to inevitably fail. No. I'm watching Tarzan on Disney XD, a channel that I haven't watched since I was like twelve years old. I'd forgotten how much I liked Tarzan though - I've always been partial to the Disney cartoons, but I've never very much liked the shows, especially recently.

Disney was good in the 90's, when they had shows like Even Steven and Lizzie McGuire, and That's So Raven. Now they've got a bunch of poor talentless sods that are practically performing monkey's. But I digress - I always liked the cartoons, so that's what I'm watching right now.

Pretty excited for tomorrow, at least, for after school tomorrow - I am NOT looking forward to make up work and a chemistry test. But the Little Mermaid and Cinderella are coming over to my house tomorrow, and we're going to see Sucker Punch - majorly excited for that. They get to spend the night afterwards so at least my weekend will be off to a good start. That's always a plus side, no?

Then on the 29th, Tangled comes out on DVD, and I loved that movie so much I saw it twice in theatres, so I can't wait til I can own it. On the 15th, there's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One on DVD, and THAT'LL be fun to see again. The Sims Medieval game came out on the 22nd, and I really want to get it, but I don't know if I'd be able to find it at the Mac store for my computer (which is technically, right now, my mother's computer, because mine is old and crappy and broken).

A commercial just came on for some doll called Baby Alive, and it took me a minute to realize that I'd seen about four different types of 'Baby Alive' dolls - why the hell don't they just put it all into one and call it a day? How stupid is it to own seven dolls that all LOOK exactly alike but function differently? So pointless. You could make more money with a super-doll, and it would probably cost less to make just the one type anyways.

That, my good people, was a mini-rant.

AMAZING CRACKSHIPS

So I'm home sick today, and I was just looking around on the internet (go figure), and whilst exploring DeviantArt, I came across this photograph:

[ORIGINAL LINK: http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&q=alice+and+peter#/d2qrda7]
(By ~DisneyLizzie)

I couldn't help but think to myself, "OMGALICEANDPETER! THAT WOULD BE SUCH A CUTE CRACK!SHIP!" and you know what, I still haven't changed my mind. I think that it's perfectly adorable. I'm such a strange person. Anyways, after finding this particular photo, I've decided that I'm going to be on the look out for more adorable or amazingly epic crackships. Keep checking up! More strange love hopefully coming your way soon.

FIVE COVERS I FIND BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL

So it's 12:34 AM, and I'm watching the Nanny on Nick at Night (say that three times fast). I probably should be asleep because I have to wake up and go to school early tomorrow, but alas, I am not asleep, nor am I remotely tired. It's storming outside, and for whatever reason, this spurred the thought in my head that a lot of the music I listen to happens to be artists covers of songs - often times, I find I like the covers better than I like the original. So these are the first five songs that happened to come to mind, in no particular order:

Sweet Dreams are made of This – Emily Browning [Eurythmics] This only actually came out on March 22nd, because it's part of the Sucker Punch soundtrack (which, by the way, I can't wait to go see). I really, really enjoy this version of the song.

Umbrella – Taylor Swift [Rihanna]
What I like about You – Lilix [The Romantics]
Somebody to Love – Anne Hathaway [QUEEN]
Sympathy for the Devil – Guns n’ Roses [The Rolling Stones]

Mostly for the other four songs, I know that what I like better about them is the vocals - as a singer, I'm a little picky about the vocals in music, not going to lie. In a family of musicians, it's pretty hard not to be picky, music-wise.

BECAUSE OF YOU MEDDLING KIDS

So this previous Spirit Week at school, myself and my general group of friends decided to do the Scooby Doo gang for favorite character day. That grouping of pictures would be myself, Little Red, as Daphne, and my best friend, Beauty, as Velma. I think we did a pretty good job with putting the costumes together, considering that we used clothes from our own closets. Kira took the pictures, and I edited them. I'm a pretty big fan of photography myself - wish I could say that I took the pictures.

However, speaking of pictures - I'm hoping to be posting up photos on this blog that I find enjoyable, whether because of their arrangement, coloring, or model, because of their whimsical mood, or because of some relation to the ever-lovable Alice in Wonderland, there should be some here. Let it be known, however, that I have a somewhat specific taste in photography, so don't be surprised if you start seeing some trends cropping up. Some of the photos may be of my own work - if they are, I'll tell you. If they're someone elses, there will be a credit for them, and if possible, a link to their own gallery (whether it be their own domain, their own blog, or a deviant art account).

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

OKAY, so yeah, I don't happen to have a red riding hood, I don't live on the edge of a darkened forest, and I don't associate with wolves - my grandmother's teeth, eyes and ears are relatively small, which might explain why she's never bothered to better her listening, seeing or eating skills - though that last might prove to be because of her diabetes. If she ate me, I should think that her meter would give her a very disgruntled look. However, despite my lack of all those things, I am extremely little (even without the red riding hood), and I've got red hair (though whether or not it's natural is none of your business), so that should be close enough. Yes.

I'm Little Red.

ALICE SAYS

ALICE SAYS: That if one were to drink from a bottle labeled 'poison', it would be sure to disagree with one sooner or later."

LITTLE RED would have to agree with Alice on this. Truth be told, it's sad to think that there are some people out there in the world who would challenge a label reading 'poison', either simply for the sake of challenging the authority of the label, or out of sheer stupidity - which, now that I think about it, sounds rather redundant.
